February:

Pre K Math Workshop:  a 6-hour workshop offered on Feb 8th and 9th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. virtually on
Zoom. This workshop is designed for teachers, special educators and math specialists who are interested in identifying and creating meaningful learning opportunities for mathematics in Preschool and Pre-K settings.

Launch/Number Sense Routines:  a 6-hour workshop offered in person at the ALN Learning Center in Burlington on February 19, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and virtually on Zoom on Feb 22, 2023, from 8:00-11:00am and 1:00-4:00 p.m.  In this workshop participants will reimagine how they use the first five to fifteen minutes of their math block for purposeful, discussion-rich number sense routines in their classroom. Launch, the first component of the ALN-lesson approach, is a powerful routine which is amplified through consistent exposure over time. Through intentional problem selection teachers encourage students to own the conversation and their learning.

March:

Math Menu:  a 6-hour workshop offered in person at the ALN Learning Center in Burlington on Mar 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and virtually on Zoom on March 7, 2023, from 8:00-11:00am and 1:00-4:00 p.m. This workshop focuses on building teacher pedagogical knowledge about effective practices for mathematics teaching and learning using the Math Menu framework as an effective practice for differentiating and enhancing mathematics instruction to meet the needs of all learners.  During the Math Menu component, students work in small groups or independently on tasks targeted to their specific needs. This workshop supports teachers in getting started with this framework to ensure they can effectively provide second and third layers of instructional support for students.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Math:  a 6-hour workshop offered virtually on Zoom on Mar 6, 2023, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 - 4:00 pm.  UDL posits flexible pathways with firm goals. As math educators, we need to consider the universal accommodations and tools we are providing for students to learn mathematics and demonstrate their understanding. We also need to consider the high priority math concept a student needs from previous grades to accurately scaffold new learning so that ALL students can experience affirming math learning at their grade level.

Gr 6-8 Math Intervention:  a 6-hour workshop offered virtually on Zoom on Mar 9, 2023, from 8:30 - 4:30 with a two hour break mid-day.  This workshop is aimed at this need with a specific focus on math content in grades 6-8.  A complete process for assessing intervention need and providing services; Templates for using the high leverage concepts and progressions to guide intervention goals and A variety of student-friendly, effective activities for intervention at each grade level.

Math for All Learners:  a 12-hour workshop (2 days) offered virtually on Zoom on Mar 16 & 17, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a two hour break mid-day.  This workshop includes the principles of teaching for equity and the closing of achievement gaps. It is a good introduction to the other workshops offered by the All Learners Network.  Participants will learn about the five key components the All Learners Network uses to help math leaders and, ultimately, teachers, support all students to be successful in mathematics.

Communication and Collaboration with Specialists:  a 3-hour workshop offered in person at the ALN Learning Center in Burlington on Mar 28, 2023, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Given how little time in our school day exists for regular check-ins/planning/communicating with colleagues about the ongoing needs of our students, teams must find creative and efficient means for collaboration and communication. In this three-hour workshop participants will discuss several effective means for keeping shared data, regular reporting, and planning team members for intervention and IEP planning purposes.

Setting up for MTSS in Math:  a 3-hour workshop offered in person at the ALN learning Center in Burlington, on Mar 30 from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. or virtually on Zoom from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.  Participants in this three-hour workshop will learn about the current rules and regulations for MTSS. We will discuss what this looks like in the classroom, intervention, and specialized instruction layers of a school using mathematics instruction as our foundation.
